Will shutting mobile networks stop election rigging and exam cheating?

Well, some government authorities definitely think so ! Check this report:

During the last week, cellular operators have received letters from district authorities in Meerut, Karnal and Sahranpur to shut down all mobile services for an entire day on various grounds, basically to prevent cheating in exams, prevent rigging and spreading of rumours during local elections.

And I thought guns and muscle power are used for election rigging. So naive of me ...

When will these guys get rational? How old is mobile usage in India ? 10-12 years at max? But the menace of cheating in exam and election rigging is going on for ages . Instead of targeting criminal-politician nexus our babus has got a new scape goat. Way to go guys !

My sympathies with the cellular operator.
